On the morning of April 21st, after 4500 kilometers of railway transportation, the first China Europe rail air intermodal train “Yuexin Express” arrived in Urumqi, where it will be transferred from railway to air transportation to Europe. This marks a significant breakthrough in international logistics transportation, breaking the traditional transportation mode of “road to air” and expanding a new golden channel for the international logistics field.
Previously, cross-border e-commerce goods from South China to Europe were mostly transported by car to Urumqi for assembly, and then transferred by air to Europe. The operation of trains has made domestic transportation more convenient and efficient.
The “Guangdong Xinjiang Express” air rail intermodal special train is jointly built by China Railway Guangzhou Group, Xinjiang Airport Group, and Shenzhen Dongfang Jiasheng Supply Chain Co., Ltd. This 4600 kilometer logistics new artery innovatively adopts the “railway trunk line+air connection” mode, with a total travel time compressed to 66 hours; Transferred by railway to Urumqi Airport, using cargo flights to Europe, the entire process is controlled within 7 days, opening up an efficient and smooth trade corridor for enterprises in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area to enter the European market.
Liu Yang, Deputy Director of the 95306 Freight Logistics Service Center of the Urumqi Bureau of the State Railway, introduced that the opening of this train provides import and export enterprises with more economical, efficient, and flexible transportation options. Compared with highways, it is not affected by weather and other factors, and transportation efficiency is improved by more than 15%. It is expected to save logistics economic costs of over 10 million yuan per year.
The successful opening of the train has filled the gap in the field of China EU rail air intermodal transport in China, and injected new vitality into the “the Belt and Road” China EU logistics. It is reported that by utilizing freight trains and flight intermodal transportation, goods from the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area can be sent to Europe, with a total transportation time controlled within 7 days. This not only meets the timeliness requirements of urgent orders for import and export enterprises, but also provides strong guarantees for stable supply of cross-border e-commerce sources.
